Serving & Serve Receive
Description: Matches are won and lost at the service line and in the pass. This high-rep, detail-oriented clinic is designed to elevate your first touch on the court—focusing on turning your serve into a scoring weapon and building rock-solid consistency in your pass. Whether you want to develop a lethal floating or jumping serve, or master footwork to handle aggressive incoming servers, this clinic breaks down the mechanics and mindset needed to control every rally.
What We’ll Cover:
- Serving Mechanics & Consistency: Fine-tuning your toss, hand contact, and footwork for repeatable accuracy, aggressive standing floats, topspins, or jump serves.
- Targeting & Serve Strategy: Reading the opposing court layout, targeting weak passers, seam hitting, and managing serve pace under pressure.
- Serve Receive Footwork & Platform: Establishing early platform preparation, balanced movement, and proper angle keying to direct passes cleanly to the target.
- Reading the Server: Developing visual tracking skills to recognize ball spin, drop, and trajectory early off the server’s hand to shorten reaction time.
- Live Pass vs. Serve Pressure: Translating individual technique into competitive scenarios through high-volume reps and dynamic game-like drills.
Blocking & Defense
Description: Great defense turns frustration into points. This intensive, detail-oriented clinic is built for players who want to dominate the net, take control of the backcourt, and turn opponent attacks into immediate transition scoring opportunities. From footwork and lateral movement to reading hitters and digging heavy balls, we break down the fundamental mechanics and tactical awareness required to become an elite defensive force.
What We’ll Cover:
- Blocker Footwork & Eye Work: Refining shuffle and foot-turn steps, transition speed along the net, visual tracking of the setter and hitter, and pressuring over the tape.
- Blocking Mechanics & Penetration: Mastering hand positioning, seal consistency on the net, timing against various set tempos, and avoiding tool off-the-block errors.
- Defensive Base & Movement: Establishing dynamic athletic posture, balanced movement to perimeter spots, and reading the hitter’s shoulder to anticipate shot placement.
- Digging Technique & Floor Skills: Handling hard-driven balls with a soft, absorbent platform, pursuing tips/roll shots, and executing safe emergency extension moves (sprawls and dives).
- Block-to-Defense Integration: Running live-action reps to coordinate the block and backcourt defense, establishing clear seam responsibilities and high-volume transition plays.
